• History: Ernest E. Just (August 14, 1883 - October 14, 1941) was an African-American biologist, academic, and science writer.  He is most well know for his work in the field of Marine Biology. His primary legacy is his recognition of the fundamental role of the cell surface in the development of organisms. Just was a co-founder of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Just was also the first recipient of the NAACP’s Spingarn Medal. This stamp is the 19th in the Black Heritage stamp series. Issued annually in February, the stamps celebrate Black History month.
