History: Sylvester and Tweety are animated characters from the popular cartoon, Looney Tunes. With his trademark lisp, Sylvester the Cat debuted in Friz Freleng's Life With Feathers in 1945. Appearing in 103 cartoons, which is the most of any Looney Tunes character, Sylvester's cartoons have won three Academy Awards. Tweety appeared in 47 cartoons, first appearing in 1942. They were paired up for the first time in the 1947 short Tweety Pie, which won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons). Sylvester and Tweety were named #33 on TV Guide's list of top 50 best cartoon characters.
