History: Established in 1850, Hawaii's first post office had three denominations of stamps printed. These rare stamps are known as "Hawaiian Missionaries" due to the fact that almost all of these stamps were used by Christian missionaries sending mail back home. There have only been a few Hawaiian missionary stamps known to have survived, making them a prize for any collector.
