  • History: This Literary Arts stamp sheet features the portrait of American poet Frederic Ogden Nash (August 19, 1902 - May 19, 1971). Nash was known for his comedic poems and unconventional rhymes, often making up words when actual rhyming words did not exist.  Nash wrote over 500 pieces. His first published collection gained him national recognition in 1931.  An avid Baltimore Colts fan, Nash wrote several poems about the team which were featured in a 1968 issue of Life.  Ogen Nash died in 1971 from a complication of Crohn's disease due to some improperly prepared coleslaw.  He is still remembered as one of the country's best known producers of humorous poetry.
