History: Native to the subtropical wetlands of the East Coast, the Venus Flytrap is made up of four to seven leaves, and the stem can reach a maximum of ten centimeters. The Venus Flytrap's diet consists of beetles, spiders, and other small insects. Growing almost three feet tall, the Yellow Trumpet is mainly found in the southeastern part of the United States. The plant uses a nectar to intoxicate its prey, causing them to plummet to the bottom of the tube where the digestive fluid prevents them from getting out. The Cobra Lily is found in Northern California and Oregon, and grows in bogs and areas with cold running water. This plant gets its name from its resemblance to the snake getting ready to strike. The English Sundew attracts its prey with a sugary scent and traps insects with its sticky mucilage. This plant grows in open, non-forested areas with wet, calcium-rich soil.
