  • History: Nicknamed "Campy", Roy Campanella was widely considered one of the greatest catchers of all time.  He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers during the 1940's and 1950's, and is considered one of the pioneers in breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball.  Campanella was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969.  Hammerin' Hank was a first baseman for the Detroit Tigers in the 1930's and 1940's, although he missed almost four years during the prime of his career serving in the U.S. Armed Forces fighting in World War II.  That being said, Greenberg was a five-time All-Star, and a two-time American League MVP, and still holds the record for most RBI in a single season by a right handed hitter.  Still considered one of the greatest sluggers in baseball history, Hank Greenberg was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1956.  Mel Ott played his entire career for the New York Giants from 1926-1947.  Although he was only 5'9" tall, Ott became the first National League player to surpass 500 home runs in his career.  Ott was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1951.  Mickey Mantle played eighteen seasons for the New York Yankees.  A member of the Hall of Fame class of 1974, he is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time.  Mantle still holds the records for the most World Series home runs, RBI, runs, walks, extra-base hits, and total bases.
