• History: American classic books warmed the hearts and filled the minds of millions during the “classic” era of American fiction writing. Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is a classic American 1903 children's novel by Kate Douglas Wiggin about the trials that a young girl faces in her young life, which gains her wisdom and understanding. Little House on the Prairie is a series of children's books by Laura Ingalls Wilder published between 1932 and 1943 that grew to include television and stage adaptations. The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin by Mark Twain is a novel first published in the U.S. in 1885. This book is known for touching firmly on the social issues of the times. This fictional story takes place during the American Revolution era (approximately 1781) along the Mississippi River. And finally, Little Women, a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott, which was published in 1868. It details the passage of four sisters from childhood to womanhood, with three themes: “domesticity, work and true love”.
