History: The National Postal Museum opened in mid-summer of 1993 in Philadelphia, PA. Honoring some of the most prominent figures and events involved in the development and continuation of the U.S. Postal System include Ben Franklin, who was the first Postmaster General in the U.S. This stamp sheet also features the U.S. Civil War stamp, a history-making one-man flight of Charles Lindberg, and an example of some of the first versions of personal letters sent to U.S. persons in the beginning of the soon-to-be widespread U.S. Postal Service.
