We are pleased to offer for sale this 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren American Women Quarter ROLL in GEM BU condition from the US Mint's American Women Quarters Program. This Quarter comes from the Denver (D) Mint. 

Information on Nina Otero-Warren:

Nina Otero-Warren is featured on the fourth coin released in this program.

Otero-Warren emphasized the necessity of using the Spanish language in the suffrage fight in order to reach Hispanic women. She also spearheaded the lobbying effort to ratify the 19th Amendment in New Mexico.

Otero-Warren strove to improve education for all New Mexicans and worked to advance bicultural education and to preserve cultural practices among the state's Hispanic and Native American communities.

In 1921, she became the first Hispanic woman to run for Congress, although she was defeated in the general election.

The reverse features an image of Nina Otero-Warren on the left, flanked by three individual Yucca flowers, New Mexico's state flower.

About the American Women Quarter Series

The American Women quarters program is a series of quarters from the U.S. Mint. Beginning in 2022, and continuing through 2025, the Mint will issue five new quarters each year featuring reverse designs honoring prominent American women. There are to be 20 total designs.

Each coin in this series features a common obverse (heads) design depicting a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, which honored the bicentennial of George Washington's birth. The inscriptions are "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2022."

The American Women Quarters reverse (tails) designs honor a diverse group of notable American women who made significant contributions in a variety of fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women honored are from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds.

The First five designs starting in 2022 honor the following women:
  • Maya Angelou (1928 - 2014)

    An American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist.

  • Sally Ride (1951 - 2012)

    An American astronaut and physicist.

  • Wilma Mankiller (1945 - 2010)

    A Native American (Cherokee Nation) activist, social worker, community developer and the first woman elected to serve as Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

  • Nina Otero-Warren (1881 - 1965)

    A woman's suffragist, educator, and politician.

  • Anna May Wong (1905 - 1961)

    The first Chinese American Hollywood movie star.
