2015 Back to the Future - Tuvalu Hoverboard .999 Silver 2 oz Coin

Thirty years after Back to the Future, the huge box office smash success, is back. The Perth Mint presents the Back to the Future – Hoverboard 2015 2oz Silver Coin. The movie is an American science fiction comedy trilogy (1985, 1989 and 1990), starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, a high school student who accidentally travels 30 years into the past to 1955, jeopardising his own future existence. The hoverboard - a skateboard without wheels that hovers over the ground - makes its debut in the second film of the trilogy. Marty McFly travels to his future in 2015 and hovers through the air when chased by teen rogue Griff Tannen and his gang. Each coin is struck from 2oz of 99.9% pure silver. The reverse of the coin features an image of Marty McFly’s hoverboard as it appeared in Back to the Future II. The inscription HOVERBOARD also appears in the design. Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. With a mintage of no more than 2,015, each coin is presented in a plastic capsule. The coin appears to be suspended and hovering within the case, packaged within an illustrated shipper and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
