We are pleased to offer for sale this 2016 Native American Dollar. This Sacagawea Dollar coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 2016 issue commemorates the "Code Talkers" of World War I and World War II. It is estimated that more than 12,000 Native Americans served in the U.S. Military during World War I and more than 44,000 served during World War II. In both wars, Native Americans played a key role in creating secret codes based on their native tongues which were used to communicate troop movements and enemy positions to the U.S. troops. Many American lives were spared due to their crucial role in the two wars. The reverse of the Native American Dollar features 2 military helmets. One in the style used during WWI and the other in the style used during WWII. Behind the helmets are two feathers in a "V" symbolizing the victory, unity and importance that Native Americans played in the wars. All of our Native American Golden Dollars are nice original coins and represent a great value for the price. You will receive one Native American Dollar. Mint marks are mixed and selected at random.

Since 2009, the United States Mint has minted and issued $1 coins featuring designs meant to, "[celebrate] the important contributions made by Indian tribes and individual Native Americans to the history and development of the United States."  The obverse design retains the Sacagawea portrait design first produced on dollar coins in 2000.  The design was altered to only contain the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, as the date, mint mark, and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM were moved to the edge of the coin, similar to the Presidential Dollar Coin Series.  The reverse design changes each year of issue to celebrate specific contributions of Indian tribes, or individual Native Americans, and contain the inscriptions $1 and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Until the conclusion of the Presidential $1 Coin Program, the coins will be issued, to the maximum extent practicable, in chronological order of the events or lives of the persons being featured on the reverse design. In general, five distinct $1 coins will be issued each year -- four Presidential $1 Coins and one Native American $1 Coin. After the completion of the Presidential $1 Coin Program, the Native American $1 Coin Program will continue, featuring designs in any order determined to be appropriate by the Secretary of the Treasury after consultation with the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, the House of Representatives Congressional Native American Caucus and the National Congress of American Indians.

Native American Dollar Coins are issued by the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints.
