We are pleased to offer for sale this 2009-P Louis Braille Bicentennial Commemorative Uncirculated Silver Dollar coin graded and encapsulated as MS-69 by NGC.  There were only 82,639 of the 2009-P Louis Braille Bicentennial Commemorative Uncirculated Silver Dollars minted at the Philadelphia (P) mint.  This 2009-P Louis Braille Commemorative Dollar was struck to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Louis Braille's birth. Braille is the inventor of the Braille system, which is still used by the blind to read and write.  The obverse of the 2009-P Louis Braille Bicentennial Commemorative Silver Dollar was designed by Joel Iskowitz. The obverse features a portrait of Louis Braille. The reverse of the 2009-P Louis Braille Silver Dollar was designed by Susan Gamble. The reverse features an image of a child reading a book in Braille as well as the word "Braille" written in Braille across the top of the coin.

This modern commemorative silver dollar is comprised of .900 (90%) silver and .100 (10%) copper with a diameter of 38.1mm and a weight of 26.73 grams with a reeded edge.
