We are pleased to offer for sale this 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar from the Binion Collection graded and encapsulated as MS-63 by NGC. This coin is from the Binion Collection which was found in Parhump, NV after the controversial 1998 death of wealthy US gambling executive Lonnie Theodore "Ted" Binion . Ted was one of the sons of famed Las Vegas casino man "Benny" Binion, owner of Binion's Horseshoe. The hoard was found in a 12 foot deep concrete vault on Ted's desert property. The hoard contained six tons of silver bullion!, as well as more than 100,000 rare coins and bundles of paper currency.
There were 9,730,000 of these 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar minted at the New Orleans (O) Mint. The Morgan Dollars series ran from 1878 through 1921. Morgan Silver Dollars weigh 26.73 grams and are comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (.773 troy ounce of silver). These 90% Silver Morgan Dollars have a diameter of 38.1mm.
