We are pleased to offer for sale this San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Opening Silver Commemorative Half Dollar (1936) in XF-40 or Better Condition.  This Bay Bridge Silver Half Dollar was struck as a souvenir coin to celebrate the opening of the Bay Bridge.  This coin was designed by Jacques Schnier, a San Francisco artist.  The obverse of the Bay Bridge Silver Half Dollar features a California grizzly bear representing the animals in local zoos.  The reverse of the Bay Bridge Silver Half Dollar features the famous landmark bridge.  There were only 71,424 of this Bay Bridge Silver Half Dollar minted at the San Francisco Mint in 1936, making it of great worth and value to the commemorative coin collector. The Bay Bridge Commemorative Coin is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.
