This 1928 Oregon Trail Memorial Half Dollar was designed by James and Laura Fraser and was struck in commemoration of the Oregon Trail and in memory of the pioneers who traveled it. The obverse of the Oregon Trail Commemorative Half Dollar features a Conestoga wagon drawn by oxen heading into a setting sun. The reverse of the 1928 Oregon Trail Memorial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar depicts an Indian standing erect with an outstretched arm as if to say, "Stop" superimposed on a map of the United States showing a line of Conestoga wagons heading West.
