2019-S Apollo 11 Moon Mission Half Dollar 2-Coin Set in NGC PF 70

We are pleased to offer for sale this 2019-S Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Half Dollar 2-Coin Set in NGC PF 70 Enhanced Rev PF & Ultra Cameo Moon Mission Releases. This special two coin set was designed to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the landing on the moon. Only 100,000 of these sets were minted. Both coins were minted at the San Francisco (S) Mint and are clad, consisting of  8.33% Nickel, balance Copper.

Each coin has been authenticated and graded by NGC and comes in a sealed, tamper proof, certified slab holder. The set includes one of each coin:

• Obverse:
  The design shows a portrait of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the youngest person ever elected to the office. U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Gilroy Roberts based this profile on a portrait prepared for Kennedy's presidential medal. Roberts created his original 1964 design shortly after Kennedy's assassination.
• Reverse:
  The design is based on the Presidential Seal and was done by U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Frank Gasparro. It consists of a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast, holding a symbolic olive branch and a bundle of 13 arrows. A ring of 50 stars surrounds the design, which gives this coin the distinction of having more stars than any other United States coin ever produced for circulation.

• Special Curved Design
• Obverse:
  This design features the inscriptions “MERCURY,” “GEMINI,” and “APOLLO,” separated by phases of the Moon, and a footprint on the lunar surface, which together represent the efforts of the United States space program leading up to the first manned Moon landing. Additional inscriptions include “2019,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “LIBERTY.”
• Reverse:
  This design features a representation of a close-up of the famous “Buzz Aldrin on the Moon” photograph taken July 20, 1969, that shows just the visor and part of the helmet of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The reflection in Buzz Aldrin’s helmet includes astronaut Neil Armstrong, the United States flag, and the lunar lander. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “HALF DOLLAR,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
