• History: This stamp sheet commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps, a public program that operated between 1933 and 1942 to provide work to young unemployed men during the Great Depression. Over the nine years of its operation, three million men received food, shelter, clothing and wages. This New Deal program not only helped employ many men desperate for work, but also helped maintain and improve American parks and infrastructure.
