We are pleased to offer for sale this 1872 Indian Head Cent Key Date coin graded and encapsulated as VG-8 by PCGS.  This Indian Head Penny is a Variety 3 Bronze, with an Oak Wreath with Shield reverse. There were only 4,042,000 of these 1872 Indian Head Cents minted at the Philadelphia (P) Mint, making it one of the Key Date coins of the series. 

The Indian Head Cent series ran from 1859 through 1909. Variety 3 Bronze coin (1864-1909) made of .950 copper and .050 tin and zinc, with a mass of 3.11 grams, and a diameter of 19mm with plain edge.
