We are pleased to offer for sale this 1921 Alabama Centennial 2x2 Silver Commemorative Half Dollar graded and encapsulated as MS-64 by PCGS.  There were only 30,000 of this Alabama Centennial 2x2 Silver Half Dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1921. The 2x2 stands for "2x2" in Field of obverse.  This Alabama Centennial Silver Half Dollar was designed by Laura Garden Fraser. The coin was struck to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the statehood of Alabama in 1919.  The obverse of the Alabama Centennial Commemorative Half Dollar features busts of William Wyatt Bibb, first governor of Alabama, and T.E. Kilby, governor at the time of the centennial.  The Alabama Centennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar is the first instance of the use of a living person's portrait on a United States coin. 

This classic commemorative half dollar is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.  Some of our slabbed commemorative coins may have toning.
