History: The Redwood Forest is located along the Northern section of the California Coast and is part of the Redwood National Park. Some of these famous Redwood trees are the oldest trees in America and have existed in the forest for 2000-plus years, however the majority are much younger at about 50-150 years old. The Pacific Coast is the only place in the world where Redwoods grow. They give support and shelter to a wide variety of creatures including mountain lions, black bears and owls. More carbon dioxide is captured by the Redwood trees than any other tree on Earth and they are considered integral to sustaining a stable global climate.
