There were 321,275 of this USO Proof Silver Dollar minted at the San Francisco (S) Mint. This 1991-D USO Proof Silver Dollar was struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of United Service Organizations. The obverse of the 1991-D USO Commemorative Silver Dollar was designed by Robert Lamb and features the USO Pennant and the words "50th Anniversary" in script. The reverse side of the 1991-D USO Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar was designed by John Mercanti and features an eagle perched atop a globe symbolizing USO services worldwide and the anniversary theme: "Fifty Years Service to Service People."
This modern commemorative silver dollar is comprised of .900 (90%) silver and .100 (10%) copper with a diameter of 38.1mm and a weight of 26.73 grams with a reeded edge.
