We are pleased to offer for sale this 1864 Indian Head Cent coin graded and encapsulated as XF-40 BN (Brown) With L by NGC.  This Indian Head Penny is a Variety 3 Bronze, with an "L" on the lower ribbon behind the neck for James B. Longacre, the designer. This Indian Head Cent has an Oak Wreath with Shield reverse. There were only 39,233,714 of these 1864 Indian Head Cents minted at the Philadelphia (P) Mint. 

The Indian Head Cent series ran from 1859 through 1909. Variety 3 Bronze coin (1864-1909) made of .950 copper and .050 tin and zinc, with a mass of 3.11 grams, and a diameter of 19mm with plain edge.
