We are pleased to offer for sale this 1936 Long Island Tercentenary Commemorative Silver Coin graded and encapsulated as MS-62 by PCGS.  There were only 81,826 of this Long Island Tercentenary Commemorative Half Dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint. This 1936 Long Island Tercentenary Half Dollar was designed by Howard Kenneth Weinman son of A.A. Weinman who designed the Liberty Walking half dollar.  The Long Island Half Dollar was struck to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the first white settlement on Long Island.  The obverse of the Long Island Tercentenary Half Dollar shows accolated heads depicting a Dutch settler and an Indian.  The reverse of the1936 Long Island Tercentenary Silver Commemorative Half Dollar features a Dutch sailing vessel.
