This 2006 San Francisco Old Mint Centennial Silver Dollar was struck to commemorate the survival of the San Francisco Old Mint during the earthquake of 1906 and the Old Mint's role in rebuilding San Francisco. The obverse of the 2006-S San Francisco Old Mint Silver Commemorative Dollar Proof was designed by Sherl J. Winter and features an image of the Old San Francisco Mint building. The reverse side of the 2006-S San Francisco Old Mint Silver Commemorative Dollar Proof was designed by George T. Morgan and is a replica of the reverse of the Morgan Silver Dollar.
