Information on these 1864 Confederate States One Hundred Dollar Bills:

After the start of the Civil War in 1861, the Confederate government started producing its own money as legal tender.  The hope was, if the south won the war, the notes would continue to be legal tender.  The hand signed and numbered notes were issued from 1861 through 1864.  The obverse of the 1864 Confederate States One Hundred Dollar Bill shows the wife of South Carolina's governor, Lucy Pickens, in the center, with two soldiers on one side, and cabinet member, George W. Randolph in the right corner.  The reverse features the number 100 in all four corners with the word 'Hundred' written out in the center with a blue background.
