We are pleased to offer for sale this Alabama Centennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar (1921) in XF-40 or Better Condition.  This Alabama Centennial Silver Half Dollar was designed by Laura Garden Fraser. The coin was struck to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the statehood of Alabama in 1919.  The obverse of the Alabama Centennial Commemorative Half Dollar features busts of William Wyatt Bibb, first governor of Alabama, and T.E. Kilby, governor at the time of the centennial.  The Alabama Centennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar is the first instance of the use of a living person's portrait on a United States coin.  There were only 64,052 of this Alabama Centennial Silver Half Dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1921, making it of great worth and value to the commemorative coin collector!  The Alabama Centennial Silver Coin is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.
