We are pleased to offer for sale this 1936 Norfolk Virginia Bicentennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar coin graded and encapsulated as MS-67 by NGC. There were only 16,936 of this Norfolk Half Dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1936.  This 1936 Norfolk Virginia Bicentennial Half Dollar was designed by William and Marjorie Simpson and celebrates the 200th anniversary of the establishment of Norfolk as a royal borough and the 300th anniversary of the original land grant.  The obverse of the Norfolk Commemorative Half Dollar features the seal of the city of Norfolk with a three-masted ship at the center.  The reverse of the 1936 Norfolk Virginia Bicentennial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar features the Royal Mace of Norfolk, presented by Lieutenant Governor Dinwiddie in 1753. 

This classic commemorative half dollar is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.  Some of our slabbed commemorative coins may have toning.
